Yacht Fishing Dubai: From Dubai Marina to the Fishing Grounds

·5 min read

In short: yacht fishing in Dubai starts in Dubai Marina or Dubai Harbour, depending on the boat, and takes you past the Marina skyline, JBR and Palm Jumeirah to the fishing grounds. Four private boats are available, from AED 375 to AED 650 per hour, with a 4-hour minimum. Rods, bait, tackle, captain, crew and fuel are included. Prices are for the whole boat.

Where yacht fishing trips start

Your boat leaves from Dubai Marina or Dubai Harbour, depending on which boat you book. We send the exact meeting point after booking. Arrive a little early: the time starts at the booked hour, not when the last guest arrives.

Before departure the crew checks an original passport or Emirates ID for every guest. This is a Coast Guard rule, so please remind everyone in your group to bring theirs.

Starting from the marina has one big advantage: the trip begins with a view. The first part of the cruise passes some of the best-known places on the Dubai coast, so even guests who do not fish enjoy the ride out.

The route: skyline, JBR and the Palm

A typical route looks like this, although the captain adjusts it to the weather and the fish:

  1. Out of the marina between the towers of the Dubai Marina skyline.
  2. Along JBR, with the beach on one side and Ain Dubai on Bluewaters ahead.
  3. Towards Palm Jumeirah, with Atlantis The Palm at the end of the island.
  4. To the fishing grounds: the Palm Jumeirah breakwaters, the waters around The World islands or nearby reefs off Dubai.

The captain chooses the spot on the day. Wind, current and where the fish are feeding all play a part. Read more about these areas in our Dubai fishing spots guide.

4 hours or 6 hours: how the trip looks

The minimum is 4 hours. Longer trips cost the same hourly rate, so a 6-hour trip is simply six times the hourly price. Here is how the time is usually used:

4-hour trip 6-hour trip
Cruise out past the landmarks Yes Yes
Time on the fishing grounds The main part of the trip, usually one or two spots More time, so the captain can try more spots
Swim stop Possible if the group prefers it to fishing time Easier to fit in without cutting the fishing short
The World islands Depends on the day More realistic on a longer trip
Best for A first trip, families, a morning outing Keen anglers and mixed groups who also want to swim

If half of your group wants to fish and the other half wants to relax, 6 hours gives everyone what they came for.

Mixing fishing with a swim stop

On longer trips many groups add a swim. Swimming is allowed in designated swimming spots and near the islands, depending on the weather and the captain’s safety call. Life jackets are on board for everyone.

A simple plan that works well: fish first while it is cooler, then stop for a swim before the cruise back. Tell the captain at the start what you want, so the day can be planned around it. Our guide to swimming from a yacht in Dubai has more tips.

Which boat: more comfort or a dedicated fishing boat

All four boats are private, include the same fishing equipment and leave in the daytime. The difference is the kind of day you want.

  • More room to relax: the 44 Ft Luxury Majesty and the 48 Ft Gulf Craft are larger boats for up to 12 guests. They suit groups where some people fish and others want space to sit, talk and enjoy the cruise.
  • Built for fishing: the 34 Ft Sea Hunter is a dedicated fishing boat (2020 model) for up to 12 guests. It suits groups whose main goal is fishing.
  • Smaller groups: the 36 Ft Luxury Oryx takes up to 10 guests and has the lowest hourly rate.

Every trip includes rods, reels, bait and tackle, captain and crew, fuel, soft drinks, water and ice. You do not need a fishing licence or your own gear. Prices are per boat, not per person. For a full price breakdown, see our fishing trip prices in Dubai.

When to go

Fishing trips run in the daytime only. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times. From roughly October to April the weather is the most comfortable; in summer, an early-morning start is the better choice.

Fish commonly caught off Dubai include barracuda, queenfish, trevally, reef fish and kingfish in the cooler months. Catches depend on the season, the weather and luck, so nobody can promise a result. Whatever you catch, you take home.
